Welcome
The Peruvian Education Initiative (PEI) is a non-profit, student-run organization that seeks to provide for the educational needs of talented, but economically disadvantaged, students in the shantytowns of Lima, Peru. The goal of PEI is to provide a university preparatory education for students that would otherwise not consider university preparation and attendance financially feasible.
By partnering with Peru’s current educational establishment, both state and private educational institutions, PEI seeks to create a network that will guide poor, high-achieving students on a path to university. The scholastic resources are available in Peru. However, as in many developing countries, they are unequally distributed. PEI aims to provide educational resources to students who have shown the potential, but lack the resources.
PEI is committed to developing, organizing and funding educational projects that will have a tangible influence of the lives of students. The most effective method to prepare students for college is to immerse them for as long as possible in an environment where the standards and resources are at a college-bound level.
PEI has chosen to fund the full secondary school enrollment (five years) of a select group of students at one of the top private schools in Lima. The scholarship program is currently being offered to three students in the second year and includes the following: pre-enrollment tutoring, transportation, school supplies and a full tuition scholarship.
